Life of Adam:
Where did Adam & Hawwa descend?
There are many traditions concerning the place of Adam's descent upon earth. Ibn Abi Hatim narrated that Ibn Abbas said: "Adam descended on land 'Dihna' between Mecca and taif." Al-Hassan said that Adam descended in India and Eve in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Iblis Bodistiman (Iraq), and the serpent in Ashahan (Iran). This last was also reported by Ibn Hatim. Ass'ady related that Adam descended with the Black Stone (a large black stone set into the wall of the ka'ba in Mecca. It is said to have come from Paradise) in India, and he had a handful of the seeds of Paradise. He sowed them in India and they grew into the fragrant tree therein.
Ibn Umar said that Adam descended on As-Safa and Eve on Al-Marwa (names of two mountains in the vicinity of the sacred house in Mecca. Part of the rites of pilgrimage (hajj) includes pacing between these two hills in commemoration of Hajar's search for water). This was also reported by Ibn Hatim. Abdul Razzaq reported that Abi Musa Al-shari said that when Allah ordered Adam to descend from Paradise to earth, He taught him the making of everything and provided him with the crops from Paradise. Essentially, it doesn’t really matter where on earth this was – Allah knows this !
Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "The best of days on which the sun has risen is Friday. On this day Adam was created, and on this day he was descended to earth." [al Bukhari]
Adam knew he bade farewell to peace and he left Paradise. On earth he had to face conflict and struggle. No sooner had one ended than another began. He also had to toil to sustain himself. He had to protect himself with clothes and weapons and protect his wife and children from the wild beasts. Above all he had to struggle with the spirit of evil. Satan, the cause of his expulsion from Paradise, continued to beguile him and his children in an effort to have them thrown into the eternal hellfire. The battle between good and evil is continuous, but those who follow Allah's guidance and should fear nothing while those who disobey Allah and follow Iblis will be damned along with him.
Adam grasped all of this and with the knowledge of this suffering he started his life on the earth. The only thing that allowed his grief was that he was master of the earth and had to make it yield to him. He was the one who had to perpetuate, cultivate and construct and populate the earth. He was also the one who had to procreate and raise children who would change and improve the world.
The pinnacle of earthly bliss was reached when Adam and Eve witnessed the birth of their 1st children, a set of twins. Adam was a devoted father and Eve a contented mother. The twins were Cain (Qabil) and his sister. Later Eve gave birth to a second set of twins, Abel (Habil) and his sister. The family enjoyed the bounties and fruits of the earth provided by their Lord. The children grew up to be strong and healthy young adults. Cain tilled the land while Abel raised cattle.

Story of Cain & Abel
The time arrived when the two young men desired life partners. This was part of Allah’s plan for mankind, to multiply and form nations with different cultures and colours. Allah revealed to Adam that he should marry each son to the twin sister of the other. Adam instructed his children according to Allah's command, but Cain was displeased with the partner chosen for him, for Abel's twin sister was not as beautiful as his own. It appears that since the beginning of time, physical beauty has been a factor in the attraction between man and women. This attraction caused Cain to envy his brother Abel. He rebelled against Allah's command by refusing to accept his father's advice.
At first glance Cain's rebellion might appear strange, but we should remember that although man has a pure nature, the potential for dichotomy exists. In other words, he had both good and bad qualities. He can become greedy, covetous, possessive, selfish and even destructive. Man is, therefore capable of seeking self-satisfaction even if it leads to failure in this life and in the hereafter. The path to goodness lies in harnessing the enemy within him, his baser self by controlling evil thoughts and deeds and practicing moderation in his desires and actions. His reward then will be the delights of this world and the hereafter. Thus Allah tests us through our divided nature.
Adam was in a dilemma. He wanted peace and harmony in his family, so he invoked Allah for help. Allah commanded that each son offer a sacrifice, and he whose offering was accepted would have right on his side. Abel offered his best camel while Cain offered his worst grain. His sacrifice was not accepted by Allah because of his disobedience to his father and the insincerity in his offering. Fire descended and devoured Abel's sacrifice, leaving that of Cain so he became angry. This enraged Cain even further. Realizing that his hopes marrying his own beautiful sister were fading, he threatened his brother. "I will kill you! I refuse to see you happy while I remain unhappy!"
Abel feeling sorry for his brother, replied, "It would be more proper for you, my brother to search for the cause of your unhappiness and then walk in the way of peace. Allah accepts the deeds only from those who serve and fear Him, not from those who reject His Commands."
Abel was intelligent, obedient, and always ready to obey the will of Allah. This contrasted sharply with his brother who was arrogant, selfish and disobedient to his Lord. Abel did not fear his brother's threats, but neither did he want his brother to be hurt, Allah had blessed Abel with purity and compassion.
Hoping to allay the hatred seething in his brother Abel said, "My brother, you are deviating from the right path and are sinful in your decisions. It is better that you repent to Allah and forget about your foolish threat. But if you do not then I will leave the matter in the hands of Allah. You alone will bear the consequence of your sin, for the Fire is the reward of the wrong-doers."

Cain kills his brother Abel
This brotherly plea did nothing to lessen the hatred in Cain's heart, nor did he show fear of Allah's punishment. Even familial considerations were cast aside. Cain struck his brother with a stone killing him instantly. This was the 1st death and the 1st criminal act committed by man on earth.
When Abel had not appeared for some time, Adam began to search for him but found no trace of his beloved son. He asked Cain about Abel's whereabouts. Cain insolently replied that he was not his brother's keeper nor his protector. From these words his father understood that Abel was dead and Adam was filled with grief. Meanwhile Cain did not know what to do with his brother's corpse. He carried it on his back wandering from place to place trying to hide it. His anger had now subsided and his conscience was saddled with guilt. He was tiring under the burden of the corpse which had started to have a stench. As a mercy, and to show that dignity could be retained even in death, Allah sent two ravens that began fighting, causing the death of one. The victorious bird used its beak and claws to dig a hole in the ground, rolled its victim into it and covered it with sand.
Witnessing this, Cain was overcome with shame and remorse. "Woe unto me!" he exclaimed. "I was unable to do what this raven has done, that is to hide my brother's corpse." Cain then buried his brother. This was also the 1st burial of man.
Allah the Almighty revealed: And (O Muhammad) recite to them (the Jews) the story of the two sons of Adam (Abel and Cain) in truth; when each offered a sacrifice to Allah, it was accepted from the one but not from the other. The latter said to the former; "I will surely kill you."
The former said: "Verily Allah accepts only from those who are Al Muttaqeen (the pious). If you do stretch your hand against me to kill me I shall never stretch my hand against you to kill you, for I fear Allah; the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinn, and all that exists). Verily I intend to let you draw my sin onyourself as well as yours then you will be one of the dwellers of the Fire, and that is the recompense of the Zalimeen (polytheists, and wrongdoers)."
So the self of the other (latter one) encouraged him and made fair seeming to him the murder of his brother; he murdered him and became one of the losers. Allah sent a crow who scratched the ground to show him to hide the dead body of his brother. He (the murderer) said: "Woe to me! Am I not even able to be as this crow and to hide the dead body of my brother?" Then he became one of those who regretted. [Ch 5:27-31]
Adam was utterly grief stricken by the loss of his two sons. One was dead, the other was won over by the devil. Adam prayed for his son and turned to mundane matters for he had to toil for his sustenance. At the same time he was a prophet advising his children and grandchildren, telling them about Allah and calling them to believe in Him. He told them about Iblis and warned them by recounting his own experience with the devil and of how the devil had tempted Cain to kill his brother.

Adam is Shown His Descendants & Death of Adam
Allah stroked Adam’s back when he was created, so all of the descendants of Adam came out from the back of Adam. We don’t know in which form, but they all fell down from his back. Allah put some light between their eyes. Adam said, “Who are they?” Allah said, These are your descendants.
Adam looked at one of them and he saw some bright, shining light between his eyes and he liked it and he liked him. Adam said, “Who is this?” Allah told him, This is one of your descendants who is going to come in the end of time, his name is Dawood. Adam said, “What’s his age?” Allah said 60 years old. Adam loved him; it was his child. We are all his children. He views us all as his children, his descendants. Even though there are thousands of years between Adam and Dawood, Adam loved him, so he told Allah, “O Allah, give him 40 years from my life.” Allah told Adam, Then it would be written down and sealed. In other words – “Are you sure?” Adam said, Yes. So it was prescribed and sealed.

Adam 'forgot' his agreement
Adam was supposed to live 1,000 years. That is the time Allah told Adam he would live. So now Adam is living in the dunya and years and years are passing by. Then, when he was 960 years old, the angel of death came to Adam and told him, “Are you ready to die?” The angel of death takes permission from the messengers. Adam said, “I still have 40 years to live.” The angel of death said, “Didn’t you give 40 years of your life to your son Dawood?” Adam denied. This hadith is Sahih.
The Prophet* says, “Adam denied, so the children of Adam, they deny. And Adam forgot, and his children forget. And Adam made mistakes and his children make mistakes.” Sometimes we forget, and that is human nature. And it is said that the name insaan (human) comes from nisyaan, which is forgetting. When we forget, we reject. Adam wasn’t lying – he forgot. He is a nabiy of Allah and they are infallible from falling into these sins. Allah forgave him; it was a mistake from Adam. Every day in our daily conversations and dealings, we forget. That happens; give excuse for your brothers. The Prophet* told us to give our brothers 70 excuses. Let us use these stories to learn akhlaaq (manners); we are in great need of akhlaaq. You can easily find 70 excuses or more if you want to.
Adam submitted to the will of Allah and submitted his soul. Humans did not know [how to deal with death]; these things were new to them. So the angels descended and they washed Adam an odd number of times. They dug the grave for Adam. They made it in the form of a laht. The angels washed him and they buried him.
This is the end of our father, Adam. We ask Allah to bring us together with him in Jannah.

Da’wah - Explaining our belief & responding to taboo questions

Working for Islam
Firstly, I would like to extend my personal appreciation to you all for giving me about 30 mins to tell you about an exciting educational and family fun day event in 2 weeks time Inshallah.  Before I begin, we must ask ourselves why we have congregated today and for most of with regularity ? We must remind each other of the sole purpose of our existence, to worship our Maker, Sustainer, Protector & the ultimate Judge of our behaviour in this dimension of existence. ‘Jinns and Men have not been created but to worship Allah’
Allah says, in the Qur’an Chapter (47) Sūrat Muḥammad: “O ye who believe! If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly.”

Why is the Exhibition needed?
We have all heard about the negativity towards Islam in the media and more recently the regular mocking of the personality of our Prophet (S). We as influentials in our communities need to dispel and clarify and iron out some of the commonly held misconceptions about Islam in its  generality and more so specifically about the Prophet of Islam.

Media bias
We know that the negative views are fertile amongst the right wing few, but if we as a community, leave the rising tide of criticism, at times hostile, hurled at Muhammad (S), then the negative thoughts will be embedded within the perceptions of the silent non Muslim majority that make up our communities.
Do you know what your non-Muslim neighbours really think about Islam, what they really think about you and your family?
Have we ever proactively undertaken steps to talk about belief to them ?
How do you think the continuous bombardment of such headlines will have on shaping the public opinion/ viewpoint?
We must not forget that such negative feelings are not only restricted to the shoes of the UK, but certainly exist in Europe , USA, Russia, Australia and you may have heard about the hostilities faced by the Muslims of Burma, Muslims of Xing Xang province in China where Chinese Muslims are forced to eat during the month of Ramadhan otherwise they lose their jobs.
The message you should be getting is that it is not only ourselves, Muslims in the UK, that are subjected to the torrent of negativity & slander about our belief, but it is a phenomenon that is global and definitely more vicious in certain parts of the world.

ISLAM  in the West =  Misunderstood, Misconceptions, Myths, Propaganda

Perceptions of non Muslims
Another important message we must take is that, the criticism, ridicule & slander is not haphazard or random, rather it is a concerted, calculated and organised effort to malign the Islamic belief system and its rules, i.e. That there exists an agenda, it would be foolish to conclude otherwise, given the weighty evidence.
The agenda is to present Islam in a manner that is designed to put people off and steer them away from even looking into Islam,
e.g. Islam is backward, 7th Century way of life; Islam does not give equal rights to women, a man can marry 4 women but a woman can’t.
These are just a few of the many taboo questions which all Muslims need to be acquainted in answering effectively

Future AGENDA
        Abused
    Maligned
Criticised
    Demonised
      Ridiculed
      Slandered

“CHRISTIAN-ISATION”
•    Fit into ‘modern’ society
•    Up-to-date
•    Reform
•    Secularise
The key message is this: Christianisation of Islam
Christianity has been through a reformation, i.e. A separation of the church and state. God in Christianity takes a back seat and thus allows human beings to legislate and decide upon what is right and wrong.  In Islam , Allah is sovereign and human desire is not the criterion for action. The mind is not the source of legislation.
Where’s the evidence ?
Some Muslims are questioning many of the rules of Islam and opt for rules from another belief system. Muslims in prominent positions of influence are challenged with many tests and invariably have compromised their belief to tow the line.

AFTER EFFECTS ?
Out of 400 MPs that voted in favour of this ruling, 4 were Muslim. Here is what another well known Muslim said about Sadiq Khan: Inayat Bunglawala, of Muslims4UK, said: “It is deeply worrying to see that Sadiq Khan has been subjected to these sinister threats. He is a working-class Muslim from South London who has done well. Instead of vilifying him as an apostate, his short-sighted and bigoted detractors would do better by looking to him as a talented and hard-working role model for young Muslims.”

Our love for the Prophet
Islam teaches us to love the Prophet more than anything else we covet in this life.
READ the AHADITH
So if we truly love the Prophet* then we should not only demonstrate this through words but deeds also.:
1. Narrated by Anas : The Prophet said "None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.“{Bukhari}
2. Narrated by Anas : The Prophet said, "Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the sweetness (delight) of faith:
    1. The one to whom Allah and His Apostle becomes dearer than anything else.
    2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake.
    3. Who hates to revert to Atheism (disbelief) as he hates to be thrown into the fire."

The Hadith here expresses the obligation on all Muslims to love the dear Prophet*. The noble companion, Ali once said, “So love of the Prophet* should be manifested in all of our actions NOT just actions related ritual worship. Human beings do a lot more than just praying, eating and sleeping.”
The best of believers expressed much love for the Prophet*, Hadhrat Ali, speaking on behalf of all the community in Medina, is reported to have said: "The Holy Prophet is dearer to us than our wealth, our children, our fathers, our forefathers, our mothers and cool water at the time of severe thirst."
Love of the Prophet* breathes life into our obedience to Allah. Without it, our deen reduces to an empty adherence to a set of rules and rituals.

Diverse community
If we look to our community, we find that it is diverse and full of cultural differences and customs
Are all of these people destined go to the Hell Fire ?
The world population is around 6 billion strong, out of which 4 billion do not recognise Allah as being the Creator and the Prophet* as the final messenger to mankind. That’s over 66% of the whole planet that may stop us from being granted Jannah when we are Accounted on the Day of Judgement
Do we not have the responsibility to invite these people ? We have a duty to invite  all non Muslims to Islam
The RESPONSIBILITY RESTS with us.

To invite, engage and call non-Muslims to Islam. (May Allah swt  guide them)
Here are some interesting facts: That’s 100 reverts every week coming to Islam in 2010. ¾ of those are women. This is an astonishing figure particularly when the media focus on women ‘s rights and the lack of them in Islam.
How much more would this reversion rate be if we mobilised ourselves and gave dawah to these communities ? Perhaps double or triple ? Think of the staggering reward from Allah for yourselves.
At times we do not realise our own individual potential, we need to make the dawah a focus of what time we have left here, in this dunya
‘Of the 5,200 Britons who converted to Islam in 2010, more than half are white and 75 per cent of them women. In the past 10 years some 100,000 British people have converted to Islam, of whom some three-quarters are women, according to the latest statistics. This is a significant increase on the 60,000 Britons in the previous decade, according to researchers based at Swansea University.’  The Independent, Nov 2011

OUR ROLE?
This begs the question, what is our role ?
What do we do ? Can we do anything ?
Bystanders?
Part-time Muslims?
The Opportunist?

HELP SHAPE THE PERCEPTION of ISLAM
Future Generation
New Muslims
If we stand back and remain silent or delegate this responsibility to other Muslims to counter because we have no time or our jobs and studies are too important for us to get into such matters. Then we will be questioned by Allah on that Day of Accounting.
The future generations of Muslims will be secularised abandoning their islamic values and what would be the impact on the people who were inquisitive about Islam.

Community benefits ?
To show Islam in a positive light
To strengthen community links, interaction and raise awareness
Dispel the negative propaganda , myths and misconceptions about Islam
We can tackle such matters in many ways but one of the best ways is to hold an exhibition to which everyone is welcomed, providing a platform for positive discussion and debate.

So exhibitions are styles that prove to be effective in
1. Promoting Islam in a positive light demonstrating the real beauty and truth about Islam
2. Strengthening cross community interactions, promotes engagement and fosters lasting relations
3. Facilitates addressing negative propaganda, myths or misconceptions about Islam

Our Vision
Our vision for the event consists of 2 main aspects.

We need your support
Another verse to remind us all of how important it is to be actively involved in the dawah. This is the work of the prophets that the Ummah of Muhammad (saw) is ordered to carry out.
Allah says, "Say: 'If it be that your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your mates, or your children; the wealth that you have gained; the commerce in which you fear a decline: or the dwellings in which ye delight - are dearer to you than Allah, or His Messenger, or the striving in His cause;- then wait until Allah brings about His decision: and Allah guides not the rebellious." (TMQ 9:24)

Supporting your Dawah through WORKSHOPS
Finally, I would like to give you a crude idea of what we have planned in the way of volunteer workshops as part of the build up process to the event.
Workshop 1, which follows shortly, will focus on how we, as Muslims, can learn effective ways to refute atheism, polytheism and other beliefs in an intellectual and rational way.
Workshop 2, will help you to succinctly explain and prove the divine origin of the miraculous Quran. There will be an opportunity to find out the best way to tackle and address the taboo questions like to do with J E T W A S H .
Workshop 3, addresses the fact that Islam is more than just a Friday thing as Sunday is to Christianity. It will help you to understand the vision that Muhammad (saw) had for humanity and go onto look at how Islam would solve the many problems we see in society today Inshallah
